On Sept. 11, Clayton’s Varsity Football team played Smithfield-Selma. During the game CHS gave a moment to remember the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Clayton scored two touchdowns in the first and second quarters, and SSS played good defense, but their offense wasn’t tough enough to break through the Comet defense.

Coach Randy Pinkowski said,”I’m very pleased from the game last Friday. Even SSS isn’t as good as Clayton, but both teams played well as a team and a unit and proper execution.”

In the third quarter Clayton scored again making the score 28-0 as the game was getting to an end. The last quarter was played and CHS won the game by 48-0.

Pinkowski said,”My highlight of the game was looking at the final score, turning around watching all the support for Clayton, the players happy, the great sportsmanship between both teams, and when the game has ended and everyone is happy and cheerful.”

He said some things like the percentage of plays completed could have changed. “[R]eviewing the video of the game we saw our mistakes and we are working them out. The game with East Wake is the conference opener and I hope for a big night since it’s a home game for the Comets and another big win for the Comets.”
